Summertime bugs - I

You come to the office in the morning, and lo: you log into you old-but-trusty XP SP3 computer. Just to be landed in an unfamiliar desktop with a message about a temporary profile. The real XP local profile seems damaged: XP has provided an empty TEMP folder instead. One might be tempted to recover data from the old profile using these guidelines: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318011, but you might as well check the local user role. Mine was inexplicably bumped off from membership in the Administrator group into the Helpsomething group. Reset the role and voilà, the correct local profile is back.
